C & E seals agreement to develop review manuals for industrial engineering certification exam
C & E Publishing, Inc. signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with a group of industrial engineers on August 12, 2017 at the C & E Information and Resource Center in South Triangle, Quezon City for the development of review manuals to aid candidates planning to take the Certified Industrial Engineer (CIE) Examination.
Seven engineers who will author the review manuals signed the MoA with Ms. Lourdes Lopez, acquisitions consultant of C & E Publishing. They were Engr. Delfin Jacob, president of e2 Consulting Inc.; Engr. Chiqui Rosanna Tan-Calayag, current administrative head and corporate secretary of DELCA Elevator Services, Inc.; and certified industrial engineers Vincent Alejandrino, Karin Dominique Bautista-De Leon, Alexis Lorraine Bautista, John Andrew Cheng, and Melissa Karen Mico. Two other authors, Engr. Charlie Marquez, vice president of e2 Consulting Inc. and current director of the Office of Planning and Development of the University of Santo Tomas, and Engr. Angelica Beata Kalaw, were not present during the signing.
Also present during the MoA signing were Christine Samonte, project officer for higher education of the C & E Publishing Product Development and Management Department (PDMD), and Michael Ditchella, area editor for Social Studies and Araling Panlipunan of PDMD. Ditchella provided the authors with an overview of the textbook development process prior to the MoA signing.
Under the agreement, C & E will have the exclusive rights to publish and distribute the seven review manuals covering the core subjects included in the CIE Examination, namely, engineering economy, production system, work study, facilities planning and design, probability and statistics, industrial quality control, and ergonomics. This set of professionally written review manuals will be the first of its kind since the first CIE Examination was held in 2009.
The CIE Examination is a voluntary process which validates an individual’s qualifications in industrial engineering. The examination is administered by the Industrial Engineering Certification Board, the certification arm of the Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers. The certification demonstrates to employers, clients, and peers the industrial engineer’s knowledge and experience and signifies commitment to continued excellence in professional practice.
