C & E brings SHS teachers’ seminar to Cebu
C & E Publishing, Inc. held the second rerun of its senior high school (SHS) teachers’ seminar at Golden Prince Hotel in Cebu City last February 12. More than 80 faculty members and school administrators from private schools in the Visayas region attended the activity titled “Education Revolution: Say Hi to Senior High.”
The SHS seminar aims to address the concerns of private schools educators nationwide on the implementation of the SHS program in school year 2016–2017. The original seminar and its first rerun were held in Quezon City last November 27 and January 25, respectively with resource speakers Dr. Dalisay Brawner and Dr. Isagani Cruz served who also spearheaded the Cebu activity.
Dr. Brawner, vice president for academic affairs of the University of Makati (UMak), delivered a lecture titled “The SHS Pilot Program: Sharing the University of Makati’s Experience,” which reviewed the pilot-testing of the SHS program at UMak from SY 2012–2013 to SY 2015–2016.
Dr. Cruz, a former Department of Education undersecretary, tackled various teaching methodologies and learning materials suited to the SHS program in his lecture titled “The Learner, the Textbook, and the Teacher.”
Meanwhile, UMak professors Clarence Ella Alipio, Maria Carmela Sison, and Jessica Rubin facilitated workshops for English, science, and mathematics, respectively.
The third rerun of the seminar will take place in Cagayan de Oro on February 27.
