UP College of Law Library partners with CE-Logic for digital research training

CE-Logic, Inc. joined the University of the Philippines Diliman College of Law Library in conducting a training workshop about legal research held at the UP Malcolm Hall Theater in Diliman, Quezon City from October 29 to 30, 2014.


Around 80 students, faculty, lawyers, librarians, researchers, academicians, school administrators, information managers, and IT professionals attended the event titled “New Dimensions: Exploring the Emerging Roles and Responsibilities of a Research Library in the Digital Age.”


Four guest speakers graced the two-day training workshop which focused on the impact of digital platforms and online services on legal research. UP Diliman Asst. Prof. Paulo Noel G. Paje discussed the significance of Internet connectivity in various institutions; Engr. Peter Nguyen, Amazon Web Services and Cloud-Computing Specialist tackled how cloud computing improves knowledge durability and availability; Prof. Chito N. Angeles, UP Diliman Librarian, lectured on the essential hardware and software for libraries; and Prof. Myrna S. Feliciano, UP College of Law Executive Director, talked about the fundamentals of legal research.


To inform the trainees of digital solutions that can help make their study of law more efficient, CE-Logic Regional Sales Manager Royce Guerrero delivered presentations about CE-Logic and HeinOnline, one of CE-Logic’s foreign partners.


Meanwhile, Atty. Joseph Dexter M. Feliciano, CEO of Thinc Office Corp., discussed how legal knowledge platforms such as his organization’s database, MyLegalWhiz, have changed the course of research. MyLegalWhiz is another database distributed by CE-Logic.


Aside from the presentations, HeinOnline and MyLegalWhiz were also on display in the CE-Logic exhibit booth to allow attendees to explore the features of the products.


CE-Logic has actively participated in various activities such as training workshops and symposia that aim to educate students, educators, researchers, and professionals about e-learning as part of its mission of modernizing library and information services in the country.
